PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS
Net Metering up 10kWp
Net Metering up 10kWp
HOW IT WORKS
The Net-Metering billing mechanism enables anyone with a permanent residence to install a 3kw photovoltaic system to ensure significant saving in the power they consume, since it is estimated that the system can produce about 5,000 KiloWatt hours per year.
The way that Net-Metering works is simple and is based on the idea that the photovoltaic system is directly connected to the EAC network.
More specifically
WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE NET METERING? HOW MUCH SAVING WILL I HAVE?
An additional motive is that a photovoltaic system is fully harmonized with nature and it is very environmentally friendly, thus helping to reduce the environmental problems caused by conventional sources of energy.
Apart, though, from its contribution to the energy upgrading of your home and, by extension, our country, installing a photovoltaic system using the Net-Metering method can provide significant saving on your electricity bill.
A 3kWp total power system can produce at least 4800 kilowatt hours per year (1600kWh per installed kilowatt), resulting in a corresponding saving per year on the electricity bill.
For example, in January-February, the residence consumed 1,000 kilowatt hours.
WHERE CAN THE SYSTEM BE INSTALLED AND HOW MUCH SPACE IS REQUIRED?
A photovoltaic system can be installed on the roofs of legally existing and new buildings or on the ground within the block where the building is located. The required installation space for systems of 3 – 10kWp is about 20m2 – 80m2 on a sloped roof (tiled roof) while it takes about 40m2 – 150m2 on a flat roof (terrace) or ground respectively.
APPLICATION SUBMISSION - ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
All residential, commercial or industrial buildings that are interconnected with the EAC network have the right to apply to EAC for the purpose of installing a photovoltaic system using the NET-METERING method, given they have been legally built according to the regulations of the Department of Town Planning and Housing. Upon submission of the application to the EAC, the applicant pays the amount of €250 plus VAT, which is the cost of managing the application, the meter, the check and the interconnection with the network.
VULNERABLE CONSUMERS - SPONSORSHIPS
Vulnerable consumers have the right to apply for a sponsorship of €900 / kWp with a maximum grant of €2,700 being available for their homes. The total available power from 1.1.2017 is 1.2MW. The categories of vulnerable consumers are mentioned on the sponsorship application, which can be found in the useful forms.
